Using the Progressive Reinforcement Training logo and principles

If you have read the complete manifesto and are following all of the principles of Progressive Reinforcement Training, you may use the logo as well as the copyrighted text below on your website and or business cards. However, if there is evidence that the logo or text is being abused or training is not in accordance with the manifesto you will be asked to remove it. The copyright and trademark owner reserves the right to deny usage of the logo and text to any particular person or company at any time. The logos may not be used to sell for profit, for example printing on t-shirts.

You may not repost the complete manifesto to your website or publish in your own material. This can only be done with permission from the author of the manifesto.  This is because in the future the manifesto might be updated. Instead however you are welcome to use the principles, the brief description of the training method and the logos on your website. I suggest however that you also write your own Mission Statement for your training website.

Progressive Reinforcement Training is a way to teach and modify behavior that doesn’t involve any forms of intentional physical or psychological intimidation. This way of teaching furthers an evolutionary progress toward a more compassionate relationship between humans and animals. Progressive Reinforcement Training essentially means teaching by reinforcing and training desired behaviors, interrupting and preventing undesirable behaviors without the intentional use of physical or psychological intimidation and taking into consideration the learner’s physical health and emotional state. Educating oneself with the goal of employing humane, effective training based on the latest scientific evidence.

The Principles

Progressive Reinforcement Training means:

1) Teaching and reinforcing desirable behaviors so they will be more likely to occur in the future.
2) Preventing and interrupting undesirable behaviors without the intentional use of physical or psychological intimidation.
3) Taking the learner’s physical and emotional wellbeing into account.
4) Continuing to educate oneself with the goal of employing humane, effective training based on the latest scientific evidence.

A commitment to Progressive Reinforcement Training means strictly following all of the above principles not just in training sessions but during 100% of the time spent with the animal.

Progressive Reinforcement Training does not mean:

1) The intentional use of physical or psychological intimidation.
2) Intentionally disregarding the learner’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
3) Holding uncompassionate goals for your training.
